‘O Brother Where Art Thou?’ by Michael Ramstead
part of the ‘Quentin vs. Coen’ art show - Los Angeles - October 1st and 2nd
Here’s an illustration based on the song “Big Rock Candy Mountain” by Harry McClintock. The piece illustrates the part with the lake of stew.
I like the idea that moomins have a very fine dense fur covering their bodies, which would explain why it appears as though they have no elbows or mouths.
or maybe they’re just fat. or both.
AHHHHH! MOOMINS!
Mandy uses lots and lots of textures to cover up her own mistakes woooo
My main problems here were figuring out poses and expression. I’m used to doing cartoony expressions through crazy eyebrow wriggling, and I can’t here because Mads has no brows (though a very distinct brow bone, which reminds me of my old government teacher’s story about deep-set eyes and a good brow bone being good in the jungle because shit can’t stab you in the eye). Also I really need to study backgrounds like yesterday.
